Inventive and creative minds will love exploring robotics and programming with our take-home makerspace kits. Learn how to control a robotic ball or turn a banana into a touchpad to play online games, with a range of kits for ages 5+.

4. Learn a language

You don’t have to take an expensive class or trawl a million YouTube videos to learn a language. Members get free access to Mango Languages, interactive online learning courses with over 70 languages. Or you can borrow our language kits including books and CDs.

5. Take a free computer course

Need to brush up on your Excel skills? We have courses for this and other common software available for learners of various levels.

6. Find your family

Trace your family history with the library version of the popular site Ancestory.com. You’ll get access to birth, death and marriage records, passenger lists, census records and more.

7. Attend a free talk or workshop

Our library programs team has devised a continuous schedule of events for kids, teens and adults. From comedy, to storytime for children, to coding workshops, there’s something for everyone almost every day of the year.

8. Borrow toys instead of buying them

Save money and the planet. Don’t buy lots of new toys to be discarded as soon as your child grows out of them. We have more than 200 toys and puzzles available for loan to help your little one develop.

9. Work on Adobe Creative Suite 6

Have a poster to make or some photos to edit? No need to invest in Adobe software at home. Come and use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Premiere Pro at our Kings Cross library.

10. Read books, mags and newspapers online

Do you know we have great titles like the New Yorker, The Economist, Wallpaper and Gourmet Traveller? Or, if you like getting some reading done on your way to work, why not download an audiobook.

And of course, if you need a quiet space to work or study, you’re welcome to use the wifi in one of our branches.
