The presence of art in the public domain is one of the indicators of a flourishing cultural life. It can add joy, texture and complexity to a place, tell stories and preserve our memories for future generations.
City Art is our program for public art. It is broad, diverse and complex and includes new commissions of permanent works and temporary installations, programs for the maintenance and conservation of the City’s collection, education, mentoring initiatives and a framework of policy and strategy documents that help us structure the program.
Artists can play an integral role in shaping and transforming our city. The City Art program provides a range of opportunities for artists to test ideas and enliven our public space.
