As provocative as its subject, Hidden Sydney is an immersive Art & About performance that takes you into an amusement park for adults: Kings Cross in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Over 4 floors of ‘The Nevada,’ the former brothel that once boasted the biggest bed in the world, you’ll meet quick-witted bouncers, madams of the night, drag queens, crooks, entertainers and eccentrics.

Celebrate the heyday of the Cross, Sydney’s Glittering Mile, before the lights dimmed. Kings Cross is where dripping in sequins, famed drag queen Carlotta (who inspired Priscilla, Queen of the Desert) ruled the streets from the infamous club Les Girls. Be inspired by the spirit and intellect of Bea Miles, who for a time lived in the storm pipes of Elizabeth Bay and gave poetry recitals from the street. Learn a few dirty tricks from notorious nightclub owner Abe Saffron, or ‘Mr Sin’, who built his empire through sordid collusions with police, politicians and judges. Return to a time when bohemians, artists, R&R boys, strippers, witches, tourists and everyday people inhabited the Cross side by side.

Meet us at The Nevada, for Sin City’s return. Book your tickets through Ticketmaster now ($35+bf Mon—Thurs/$45+bf Fri—Sun). Season runs from 16 September to 9 October.

Hidden Sydney – The Glittering Mile is produced by Live Ideas and Working Management with Art & About Sydney.
